One of the things you will notice about me is that I am not your average real estate agent... I think that is a good thing. I don't put my picture on everything. I don't brag about how many houses I sell, if you want to know, just ask and I'll tell you, but I think the really important thing to you is probably "what can I do for you???" I don't go just anywhere and everywhere. I am a specialist. If you want to buy a house in Indy, or Brown County, or somewhere up north, I'll be happy to help you find an agent in those areas. I don't think its possible to do a good job if you spread out all over the place. Much like a brain surgeon, I specialize. If you have a cold, go to your family doctor. If you have a tooth ache, go to your dentist. But if you have a brain tumor... You sure don't want to go to the ob/gyn... It's the same way with real estate. It has gotten so complicated over the years that you don't want to trust the biggest asset you will ever own to just anyone, after all, what do they call the person that graduated last in their class at medical school??? That's right, Doctor! With real estate you just plain don't want to hire someone just because they have a license. If you want to buy or sell a house within a mile or so of Morse Lake, all the way up to Tipton... I'm your man, period! I'm the best you can get but I don't just say it... I back it up with my actions and I am willing to back it up with my own money, just to prove it to you. Ask me about my guarantees.
OK, that's enough of me talking from my soap box =)
When I was a kid I loved to play Monopoly. At all the family gatherings I hassled the other kids until they would play it with me. When I grew up I figured I might as well play it for real and what better way to do that than become a Realtor! I got my salesperson license in 1991 when I worked for a Coldwell Banker Broker. In '93 I started my own office. Over the years I had an Independent office, a Century 21 office, and a RE/MAX office and a brief stint with Keller Williams Realty and Morse Lake Realty, Inc. I've seen a lot of other philosophies and I obviously went through a brief period of trial and error =) and now I'm back as HERON Real Estate and I honestly think that this one is the best. I don't have to worry about what the company tells me to do, I can just do what's best for the client, no BS.. While real estate is important, very important in fact, I know now that life has quite a few things that are more important, like family for one. While a house is great, it's just not quite a home if you have no friends and family to share it with. I was the number one buyer agent in the Realtor Association of Central Indiana for 3 years and the top selling agent in Tipton County for 16 years straight. Numbers used to be important to me. Now being the best is more meaningful to me. I used to be an insurance agent, I had a landscaping business, and I also owned 18 rentals. Now I choose to do fewer things but do them well. I have "blended family" with six kids and a fantastic loving wife. Why does this matter to you? Because they are my motivation. You see, they are expensive! Just imagine how much college, clothes, cars, etc. all costs. The way I pay for it is by selling houses like yours! =) Like I said, I'm not a typical real estate agent. I don't wear suits, or drive fancy cars. I'm not trying to impress anyone with the way I look. I have a shaved head, drive a pick up, and usually wear jeans and a white shirt. I'm comfortable and confident, and I know what what I'm talking about when it comes to selling a house. I like to sail and I ride a Harley. (it gets great gas mileage! but that's obviously not the reason I ride.) In the summer you can find me at my daughters softball games and in the fall I'll be at my son's soccer games. We have two Siberian Huskies, Apache and Aldrick, We have a pool, a trampoline, a giant playhouse, and spend a lot of evenings in the back yard. We play hard so when I'm working, I work hard. I work for you. Give me a call, or email and let's see how I can help you. Have Fun! and I look forward to helping you. Doug
No glamour shots here... Just the real me.
